Revolutionizing Orthodontics with Invisalign in Peterborough

Dr. Christopher Moore & Associates is proud to announce that we can provide Invisalign in Peterborough.  If you or someone in your family has been in need of orthodontic work, but did not wish to deal with the possible pain or inconvenience which can often accompany traditional braces, Invisalign might be exactly what you’re looking for!

This is a relatively new procedure, so we wanted to take a few minutes to explain how Invisalign works and who might be a suitable candidate to receive Invisalign in Peterborough.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a revolutionary new method of treating mild-to-moderately misaligned teeth without the need for semi-permanent braces or headgear.  Better yet, as the name suggests, it’s almost entirely undetectable by other people. You could have your teeth straightened without anyone ever knowing it’s happening.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Rather than using stiff metal aligners, Invisalign instead uses a series of custom-molded aligners made of a proprietary clear silicone-like material called SmartTrack.  They’re soft, comfortable, and gently shift your teeth.  Each set of aligners are custom-engineered to move your teeth horizontally, vertically, or even rotate them to create a perfect alignment.

Invisalign works in a series of steps.  Generally, once a week, you visit your dentist to have your teeth scanned, and a new set of Invisalign aligners created.  You wear that aligner for a week, shifting your teeth a bit more, then return for the next aligner.

Step by step by step, your teeth are gradually moved into the proper positions.

How Does Daily Life Change with Invisalign?

It doesn’t.

Invisalign is completely unlike traditional braces.  You will NOT have to sacrifice any foods or deal with complicated procedures for cleaning your teeth around the correcting appliance.

Why?  Because you can take it out whenever you need.

Whenever you’re eating, and when it’s time to brush/floss your teeth, you remove the aligner.  When you’re done, you put it back into place.  It’s custom-molded to your teeth, so there’s no need for glues or any other procedures.  Take it off, then put it back in.  It’s truly that simple.

Of course, it’s important to still wear the Invisalign aligner most the time.  We recommend having it in for at least 20-22 hours a day for best effect.  Never the less, it can be removed whenever it would be an inconvenience in your day-to-day life.

Who Can Benefit from Invisalign In Peterborough?

Invisalign can be used to treat a wide variety of orthodontic problems, including:

  • Gapped teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crossbite

Invisalign is not for everybody, and there are limits to what it can correct.  Particularly extreme misalignments may still require more traditional mechanical corrective methods.  Still, in our experience many orthodontic patients who would otherwise need braces are excellent candidates for Invisalign.

So, if you’ve decided that you’d rather live with crooked teeth than deal with the pain of braces, it may be time to think again.  Contact Dr. Christopher Moore and Associates to schedule an orthodontic consultation!
